ALS

There is Hope With Revitalizing Infusion Therapies

What Is ALS?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly called ALS, is a degenerative disorder affecting the nervous system. This progressive disease impacts the nerve cells and connections in the brain and spinal cord, causing an eventual loss of muscle control.

The exact cause of ALS is unknown. However, medical professionals know that the disorder is genetic in some cases, being passed down through family lines. ALS causes the gradual degradation of neurons responsible for motor function and fine movement in the muscular system. This degradation affects a patient’s ability to walk, speak, their dexterity, and other forms of voluntary movement.

Ketamine Offers Quick and Effective Symptom Relief

Symptoms of ALS

The symptoms of ALS vary from patient to patient. However, some universal early warning signs are muscle twitching, shaking, and slurred speech.

ALS symptoms will often appear in the extremities, feet, hands, and limbs before progressing to the rest of the body.

As the disease worsens, patients experience increased muscle weakness, dramatically decreased dexterity, loss of the ability to walk, chew, swallow, speak, and eventually breathe.

Ketamine Treatment for ALS

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a debilitating disorder of the nervous system. ALS can cause various symptoms such as muscle weakness, loss of motor control, inability to walk or run, shaking, muscle twitching, and eventual failure of involuntary muscle systems. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that 5,000 individuals in the United States alone struggle with ALS.

Unfortunately, there is no known cure for ALS, and the condition can be fatal. Despite this, the symptoms of ALS can be managed and suffering reduced through innovative treatments like ketamine infusion therapy. Ketamine treats ALS symptoms by inhibiting glutamate uptake in the brain. By blocking glutamate uptake ketamine helps reduce pain, providing ALS patients with a better quality of life.
